The Chinese duo of Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao clinched the first gold medal of the Paris Olympics in the 10m air rifle event, making China the first nation to stand atop the podium at these Games. They secured their victory with a score of 16-12 against South Korea’s Keum Jihyeon and Park Jahun.
Kazakhstan earned the first medal of Paris 2024 in the same event, marking their first Olympic shooting medal since 1996. Alexandre Le and Islam Satpayev of Kazakhstan won the bronze, defeating Germany’s Maximilian Ulbrich and Anna Janssen 17-5.
India’s 10m air rifle mixed team pairs, Ramita Jindal-Arjun Babuta and Sandeep Singh-Elavenil Valarivan, did not advance to the medal rounds at the Chateauroux shooting range. Ramita and Arjun finished sixth, while Sandeep and Elavenil placed 12th.
In the qualification final, the Chinese team of Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao, who are reigning world champions, posted a top score of 632.2 to advance to the gold medal match. Their South Korean rivals, Keum Jihyeon and Park Jahun, qualified second with a score of 631.4.
